Company Background.

Established in 1979 Manderwood have grown significantly by setting up and investing in four other companies:- Firwood Timber Frame, DRJ Roof Trusses Ltd., Trustec Limited (roof trusses) and Merlwood Timber Ltd (timber importers), these companies form the Manderwood Group.

As a group, over 120 people are employed at 7 manufacturing sites. Manderwood, a private limited company, has its 7,500 square foot head office in Milford Haven (QA ISO 9001:2008' PEFC CERTIFIED), Port Talbot (PEFC CERTIFIED) and Highbridge, Somerset. Manderwood employ over 60 people, who are all vastly experienced in the timber engineering industry.

Products and Services.

Manderwood specialise in the design and manufacture of timber roof trusses and timber frame building systems. The company pride themselves in the fact that they use the most up-to-date equipment and technology to run a very efficient operation. In turn, competitive prices and superb service are passed on to our customers who range from individuals with house extensions to major developers and national builders merchant chains.

Company Operations.

The company's operation involves timber cutting, timber treatment, and assembly, manufacturing on a JIT basis. Manderwood operate a traditional batch manufacturing process. This stands out from others, because Manderwood were the first to invest in the most up to date computerized saws.

In conjunction with Wolf Systems Ltd. of Coventry, Manderwood developed the specification for the software. The computerized saws were purpose built so Manderwood have the best technology available within the industry. In addition to the computerized saws, other plant and equipment includes timber treatment plant, low level press, automatic truss stacker, and forklift trucks.

Achievements and Aims.

Manderwood are accredited to ISO 9001 : 2000 Trada Quality Assurance Scheme and closely follow other impending standards and technological trends through their trade association TRA (Trussed Rafter Association), as well as other research organisations and technical publications. We have significant public and product liability insurance and all our designers are professionally indemnified.
